Thrift Shop find: Teapot

Look at this…isn’t she pretty?  I had to buy a new one because someone eh-hem made a barley tea in my teapot and then left the bag there for weeks.  Besides being gross-I cannot trust the former tea pot to not make me ill.  So $6 at the thrift store buys me this beauty. I’m in love! I made some Nettle Tea with it. Which has amazing health benefits.

Here’s a link in case you want to know more.

Cooking plans for this week include:

Blueberry Coconut Pancakes, Ginger Juice, Chicken Cilantro Lime chicken patties, and Peanut butter dog treats.

Have a nice week!

Apple Cider Vinegar~Ginger~Cinnamon~Stevia Juice

I am in love with the Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar drinks, and wish that I could buy them every day, but at this time we are a little bit poor, so I figure out how to make it.  I also found a way to make my own ginger juice.  If this recipe works I will let you know.  Until then I use the Ginger People’s Ginger Juice, Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar, Cinnamon, Stevia, and Spring Water.

Here’s the cast:

Water is not pictured.  I apologize, but I’m sure you are ok with it. 🙂

Get some sort of drinking device, I chose a jar type bottle, so I could shake it, but you could also just mix it with a spoon.

Put everything in your drinking device

12-16oz Water

2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

2tbsp Ginger Juice

1 tsp of Cinnamon

1-2 packets of stevia

Put on lid and shake or stir until combined

Drink and enjoy! All your innards will thank you! As a weight loss or a heartburn aid drink this about 15 minutes before you eat.

Gluten-Free Banana Bread~Muffin~Cake

3 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
3 eggs
1 overly-ripe, mashed banana
1 teaspoon gluten free vanilla extract
1/4 cup coconut flour
1/4 teaspoon Braggs apple cider vinegar

1/8 teaspoon of baking soda
Dash of Cinnamon and Nutmeg
Preheat oven to 375F. In a medium-sized bowl combine the coconut oil, eggs, banana and vanilla extract. In a smaller bowl, combine the coconut flour, baking soda and apple cider vinegar until all lumps are gone. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ones until thoroughly combined.
Spray your cooking tray of choice
Can be put in a small pan or mini muffin tins, if baking in small pan- such as mini loaf or mini casserole dish cook for about 20-45 mins or until top is golden and fork comes out smooth.  If in muffin tins using a teaspoon, fill mini-muffin tins 3/4 full  12 mins or until fork comes out smooth.
This was amazing and I will be making it again!
*Made it again and I double the recipe and made it like a loaf of bread…awesome!!! Mr. ICHT and I inhaled it.  Cooking time for the doubled recipe was a minimum of 40 mins but may have been close to an hour….sorry I was making many things.

Favorite Dog and Cat Foods

Our shep-rottie mix, Buster was born with a lot of health issues, and because of him I learned all about dog food and supplements.

1.  Every dog and cat should be grain and beef free.  This means no corn, barley, wheat, rye, or their glutens.  Ideally there would be no rice but sometimes this is not possible.

2. Every dog and cat should be on digestive enzymes unless they are out killing their meals everyday.  The food we provide for them is not perfect-its filling.

3. Wet or Raw food should be added to their diet….why?  Because feeding dry only is like giving them a bag of chips or a microwave dinner daily it is processed dead food.

4.  If you can find it at Wal-Mart its not healthy.

5.  Science Diet, Eukanuba,  & IAMS are not a superior food.  If you compare their ingredients with Ol’Roy, Purina, Pedigree, they are just about the same. Not to mention they test on animals and not in the happy ways you see on commercials.

6. It is not necessarily a bad thing to feed wet food or change foods.  Variety is the spice of life and if your dog can handle it I suggest you do it.

My favorite Dog Foods:

Natural Balance (grain free food only)

Stella and Chewy

Tripett (Tripe is so awesome for dogs with EPI and in general)

Nature’s Domain

Canidae-Grain Free Pure Elements*  I used to love Canidae and then they sold themselves to Diamond (which was involved in the recall), changed the formula and all four of my dogs were sick.  They have tried the grain free but I just don’t trust them like I used too.  I was not the only one with this problem so if you do decide to try it buy the small bag.

Wellness CORE-Helped my FLUTD kittie a lot!

Awesome Supplements

Buster had EPI and Hip Dysplasia which I managed with feeding a grain free food, Digestive Enzymes, Probotics, Tripe and Shark Cartilage (for the hip) Sea Pet and Ark Naturals Joint Rescue seemed to work the best for him.

Mr. Myagi (cat) gets FLUTD occasionally and we give him tinkle tonic, high protein grain free food, and changed his litter to Dr. Elsey’s Precious Cat Ultra Clumping Cat Litter.

My favorite supplement sites are and

If you are gluten-free and notice you still have symptoms and can’t figure out why…check your pets food if you’re getting that on your hands or if your extremely sensitive and breathing it in bothers you-the pet food may be your culprit.
