Dr. Becker’s Real Food for Healthy Dogs an Cats-Simple Homemade Food

I have been toying with the idea of making my animals food for quite some time.  Dry and wet food costs are going up considerably, and I don’t like the idea of feeding processed foods every day twice a day.  It just doesn’t sit well with me, so I bought the book, Dr. Becker’s Real Food for Healthy Dogs and Cats Simple Homemade Food.    It has a huge amount of information and recipes.

I think everyone will adapt to this pretty easily, except my Mr. Myagi-Pillowfluff Beefy.  He tends to not like change.  He liked wet food for awhile and we thought, wet food is so much better than dry we’ll just phase out the dry.  I’m pretty sure the phrase, Awww Hell No, went through his head because he started bullying my Mini.  Mini the Rott/Shep mix that weighs 90lbs and routinely kills squirrels and opossums for shits and giggles.  Now, Mini loves her Mr. Myagi  and hates the idea of getting yelled at.  Anytime  Myagi tried bullying her, she would stand up and look at me, as if to say, “you saw that right?”, so I am a little worried that my Mr. Myagi will try his shinanagans again.  He’s 21lbs of power.

So back to the book, not only do you get recipes, but they lay out the supplement plan for you too.  Since chances are you will not be killing the food yourself and there for able to give them every part that has the important nutrients in it-they do need supplements.

Oh and I also made yummy gluten-free, refined sugar free pumpkin muffins yesterday, sooooo good.  I’ll post the recipe once I have it perfected.  Happy Thursday!

Recipe from my momma and her momma.

1lb of Grass Fed Ground Beef

1/2 onion

1-2 cups of peas

 

1. Warm up pan on low add a couple table spoons of water

2. Dice up onions and put into pan and let them simmer for a few

3. Turn heat up to medium and add Beef and break up with spatula while cooking-shouldn’t be any big pieces

4. Once Beef is brown, drain the grease you don’t have to drain it all-it gives it a great flavor.

5. Turn heat back on low, add peas, mix into meat, put a lid on the pan and let the peas cook for a few minutes.

This should serve 2 adults and 2-3 kids depending on appetite.

Chicken Lime Cilantro Patties or loaf

This recipe is from Treatment Center for Metabolic Disorders-I did change it to make it my own. I like to eat it as a breakfast, but it’s really good any time of the day.

2lbs of Ground Chicken or Turkey, sometimes I use one pound of each

4tbs of fresh Cilantro

1/2 tsp Braggs Amino Acids

Zest of 1 lime

Juice of half a lime

1/4 tsp of Cumin

1/4 tsp of Coriander

1/4 tsp of Garlic or Onion powder

Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix with your hands like a meatloaf and you can either make pattie shapes and make on stove top or grill, or make it as a loaf in the oven.

Stove top: Turn the heat on medium, spray your pan with a little bit of olive oil, put patties on 2-4 at a time depending on size of pattie and pan. Cook on each side for 3-5 minutes or until no longer pink in center.

Baking:  Preheat oven to 350F put in a loaf pan, and bake for 20 minutes, check inside meat color, and  you will probably need to cook it another 20 minutes.  The top should be a nice golden brown and the insides should NOT be pink.

Good for you and naturally gluten-free!

As far as the fillings go:  You should get those taken out by a natural dentist ASAP, if you’ve had them removed already and didn’t go to a natural dentist eat more Cilantro and talk to a naturopath about taking Activated Charcoal as they both carry heavy metals out of the body.

Another thing that has Mercury-High Fructose Corn Syrup, so please get that out of your diet.  A lot of companies are advertising things without HFCS now just make sure they weren’t tricky and added Corn Sugar instead which is the same thing just different name.

Get the fluoride out of your life as it is very bad for you and specifically your thyroid and liver, drink spring or distilled water, get a shower filter that specifically reduces fluoride and chlorine, get a fluoride free toothpaste-Toms of Maine, Dessert Essence, Spry, etc., all good alternatives.  On a different note did you know that fluoride can make you more submissive and the person that originally put it in water was Hitler for that specific reason?
